Released in 1997 the Service Station set was exclusive to those Lionel dealers who are listed as repair (service) stations. 

Featuring the #8495 Conrail SD20 which is powered by a Pullmor Classic drive train, the open-frame AC motor generates loads of pulling power and the classic smell of ozone.  Also features Magne-Traction which is Lionel's exclusive traction enhancement feature that give more speed, more climb, and more pull.  An alert diesel horn sounds the alarm at grade crossings.  The SSRU reverse unit delivers reliable conventional forward-neutral-reverse operation at the touch of your transformers direction button.  Six-wheel die-cast trucks, stamped-steel frame, magnetic couplers,and brilliant illumination.  The rolling stock includes two 6464 boxcars with overstampt merger markings - NYC/Penn Central Pacemaker and Pennsylvania/Conrail to capture the look of the late 60's/early 70's.  Also included is the Edison 6461 depressed-center flatcar with transformer load and the 6315 Sunoco Aviation Fuels one-dome tank car.  Rounding out this fine collector set is the 6417 Conrail N5c illuminated caboose with prototypically accurate blanked out rear portholes.  Each piece rides on die-cast metal trucks, has magnetic couplers, and most include metal brake wheels
